If the funky shoe factory existed today all shoes would be of the same elongated style, all shoes would be made by the same manufacturer and all shoes would all be sold in the same way. There would be no such thing as creative shoes, or design shoes, shoes bought and then altered to suit the customer.

While the elongated shoe style existed there was a lack of materials to make these shoes. To make platform wedge shoes there was a need to find new materials that allowed the material to increase in width. To do this plastic was used to create the illusion of a platform under the toe of the shoe.

To specify exactly what these elongated shoes are I think one had to look to the 70s for the definition. Platform wedge shoes were made of hippy material and had to be held up by strings. These shoes had to have a very high heel to compensate for the fact that they were not built to be walked in. While these shoes were sold primarily in women’s styles they were also available in men’s styles. The most notable occasion these type of shoes were worn other than the hippy rocker scene were at the disco dance club.

Wedge sneakers were introduced toward the end of the disco era and quickly took off onto the dance floor. The name suede sneakers comes from the technique used to attached the shoes. A suede patch is used instead of a shoelace patch to protect the sole of the shoe. The first shoes to use this technique were made by a company called Blusc Crunch. The shoes paved the way for the fashion shoe of the year 2000.

Dansko shoes have been in the market recently and have taken the world by storm. Their unique style of dancing shoes were worn in many venues across the globe. Have you ever wondered where they came from? The first shoes made by Dansko were designed with the needs of the dancers in mind. Since then Dansko has been producing nothing but great shoes. Their specialty is in recycling the shoes and re-styling them into other shoes. What started out as auke strow shoes and a few pairs of shoes quickly grew into a major company.

Walking shoes have been a Dansko specialty for many years. Although they were first produced in burgundy and black the company now produces shoes in COA’s, petroleum finish, and pink and purple slip on’s.

The dancing shoe was first designed and built for the professional dancer. The dancer required a strong lightweight shoe that not only lasted but was also able to perform all the dance choreographs. That is why the shoe was made in two parts. A shock absorbing heel box and a Radio-fitted 1932 shock absorbing shank supplemented by a molded flexible shank that serves as the metatarsal and ball of the foot. The shoe also included a lightweight sole timesuedeutral postureand3 area’s of support.

The new modern shoe was designed using all of these wonderful materials and more. Women could now have the professional shoes they needed to perform at the top level without having to pay the prices paid in the past. The shoe was more or less a pocket that opened to reveal an old world style handbag. The classic Dansko shoe has always been reasonably priced and it has earned a name for itself in the dance world. The shoe has been updated with graphics, patent leather, brighter colors and more fashionable looks. Still with the name Dansko the shoe is also available in a variety of sizes and more. The shoe has enjoyed a great deal of success and continues to sell well. Danceoppers like buying Dansko classic shoes because of their reliability, affordability and dance styles.
